The mixed doubles tournament is always a popular tournament for HPC. The tournament is a great example of how polo is played at any level with both men and women participating together. The teams are made up of two men and two women in each lineup. This year was just as popular with games starting on the Saturday and going through to the final on Bank Holiday Monday.
First up on Saturday's game were Andina vs Student Beehive. Andina comfortably took the win over student beehive booking a place in Sunday's final. In the next semi final we had Vendetta vs Braemar Farms. In this match Vendetta were the strongest with Jimmy Wood putting in an excellent performance.
In Monday's final Andina with an extra day of rest took to the field with Vendetta. Andina got out of the blocks quickest establishing themselves a good lead. Vendetta stayed in the game but were unlucky with several close misses. Vendetta patron Garrie Renucci was covering the pitch fantastically well belying his handicap with some great attack and defence play. Vendetta were not about to give up easily but Andina worked well as a team to maintain their lead. In the end Andina took the win 7 goals to 4.5.
