Riding & Polo for Kids

Polo lessons during the season, 17yrs and under(closed Mondays)

Junior Academy May -September

The Junior Academy (JA) introduces children aged 8-18 to polo with the aim of becoming adult players at Ham, the JA also offers the opportunity for parents and guardians to become involved through Social Membership. There is a range of experienced ponies and DBS checked, experienced instructors available and children have the opportunity to learn how to play polo, umpire, become a goal judge and how to play in matches. To be involved in the JA, a child will need to be able to ride and hit the ball sufficiently well; lessons for this purpose are available. HPA membership is compulsory.

Saturdays 45mins-1 hour

  • Stick & Ball warm-up; each member receives individual instruction

  • Instructional chukka using the Stick & Ball field or Pitch 2

  • Occasional rules & tactics sessions

  • Monthly Sunday Chukka during the match schedule

  • Chukkas including horse £120/ own horse £80

Fun & Education with a Qualified Team-

The Club is a great place for children to make new friends in a safe and friendly environment. If children do not have their own ponies we offer year around activities to participate in using our own friendly and beautiful ponies; the team has many combined years of experience teaching children how to ride and to play polo.

If you are looking to do more intensive learning then we can put together a bespoke package for kids. Our instructors are Enhanced DBS checked and experienced riding teachers.

Our ponies are experienced with children but please note all riding activities do come with risk as any sport.

After School & Saturdays

Tuition is available after school & weekends for children. Small pony rides are available for children over 4 however, these have limited availability.

Riding lessons are not available on a Sunday or Monday between May- September due to polo matches.
