Summer Tournament
This years summer tournament at HPC got underway last week with group games starting on Thursday evening. In the final were unbeaten Flying Foxes polo team against Heiko Voelker's Tchogan who came through via a draw on Saturday's group game.
Flying Foxes had two three goalers in the form of Charlie Wood and the experienced ex 5 goaler Mariano Daritchon. Tchogan had up and coming 4 goaler Fede Boudou ably assisted by Fifield Polo Club 2 goaler Orlando Camus.
The game started with a minor delay due to horse transport difficulties with Mariano Darritchon offering his horses to Tchogan in order to help get the match underway. In the first chukka both teams remained well matched with each team scoring three goals.
After the first chukka though it was Flying Foxes' Mariano Darritchon who turned up the heat, the Argentine three goaler was all over the field managing to have a say in most of the play, backed up by HPC's Charlie Wood they took a strong lead into the final stages of the game. Boudou wasn't about to give up going for several long range efforts that were marginally wide. The Flying Foxes were too strong though maintaining their lead until the final bell. Best playing pony sposored by Hugs & Co. was won by Prima Da Vinci played by Charlie Wood.
