Sunday's second game was for the Autumn Cup. On the field were the chairman's team Stagshead and Chris Graham's Phoenix. The Handicap Committee had made no mistakes with the two teams as it was impossible to pick a winner at any stage in the game. So evenly matched were the two sides that at full time the scores were tied and it was agreed that the patrons would share the trophy.

Play from the Ham vs Cowdray game 2011

The team arrived fully aware that playing against Cowdray was always a very hard match. In the first half they managed to hold the opposition and the second chukka closed 2.5 - 2. It was the third chukka though where HPC made the difference putting 5 goals away, two from Benjie Davis, two from Bruno Parodi and one from Faisal Al Rifai. Cowdray did not answer till the fourth chukka where they managed to pull back two goals but it was too late.

As always Ham Polo Club had a big group of supporters present at the match and their vocal support certainly seemed to have a positive effect on the players. It is always a pleasure to play at the Cowdray grounds and Ham Polo Club would like to thank Cowdray for hosting the match every year.

Candilio Cup at Ham Polo Club

The Candilio Cup invitational polo match took place on Sunday. The yearly fixture as always featured an exciting 4-Goal match between Maria Elena Candilio's Napoli Polo Team and guest opposition Tulicombe. The game was preluded by the introduction of the teams which included Napoli's mascot Bartolo Candilio, sporting his own Napoli shirt.

Oscar Mancini produced some fantastic polo for Napoli despite the fact that persistant heavy rain had made the field very difficult to play on. Treading in at half time was much needed after the first two chukkas and thankfully the rain held off. In the second half penalties started going in favour of Tulicombe and this gave Martin ffrench-Blake the opportunities to show off some big hitting from the spot. Napoli however kept in the game and put in some great runs in the fourth chukka which by the final bell had given them the edge. Maria Elena was presented with the Candilo Cup and Bartolo received his own trophy for the day's best mascot.
